The Reprise & The Reprisal

This is the reprise and the reprisal
It’s always a reprise and a reprisal
Every day’s a reprise and a reprisal
This is the reprise and the reprisal
We wait too long, sometimes we’re just waiting to
We worked too hard or not at all
We play too much or not nearly half enough
We thought it through, but how can we think that far?
And we’d quit our jobs but there’d be so much more to do
And we could try twice as hard but we’d have twice as much to prove
So don’t hold your breath, and I won’t hold mine
So don’t hold your breath; there’s too much of me, too much of you
Look at all we’ve done and left undone
Look at all we’ve fought off and given into
We’ve bent our backs and have been backed down too
We’ve laughed a lot and that feels so good to do.
And we’d quit our jobs but there’d be so much more to do
And we could try twice as hard but we’d have twice as much to prove
Cause when you love what you are, you can love what you do.
So don’t hold your breath, and I won’t hold mine
So don’t hold your breath; there’s too much of me, too much of you
This is the reprise and the reprisal
It’s always a reprise and a reprisal
Every day’s a reprise and a reprisal
This is the reprise and the reprisal
